What is Digital Citizenship?
"Digital citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use." -Mike Ribble
Why is Digital Citizenship Important?
Welcome to our Classroom Website dedicated to becoming responsible Digital Citizens! Becoming a good digital citizen is just as important as being a good citizen to our classmates. We are good citizens to our classmates when we show respect while interacting with them in a face-to-face environment (our classroom). To show that we are good citizens, we use kind words, share materials, and work cooperatively. Digital Citizens show others respect on the internet when using technology. How can you do that? It is very simple, you simply transfer what you already know about being a good citizen to the digital world. As third graders you will be working with your peers in face-to-face environments as well as digital environments. This website will help you acquire the skills needed to work responsibly while using Schoology, social media websites, and various other applications. You will learn how to communicate with your peers, how to search for and find quality resources, and how to stay safe and protect your privacy while working on the internet at school and at home .
